About Cava de Oro Extra Añejo Tequila
Gildardo Partida and Leticia Hermosillo started cultivating blue Weber agaves in the early 1990s. As they installed a small alembic and equally small bottling equipment in the Casa Cava de Oro, the business started growing exponentially. Experimentation and ingenuity soon gave birth to a different kind of tequila expression. Engineer Gildardo Partida Meléndrez and Tequila Master Alberto Partida crafted a premium tequila that was matured in red wine casks, resulting in a unique spirit that called for an equally special bottle design with a pioneering touch ― the spirit flows in the specially-designed bottle cap as well, this portion of the liquid serving as a gift for anyone who acquires a bottle. Cava de Oro Extra Añejo Tequila is crafted using traditional methods that include slowly cooking the agaves, grinding the fibers using a tahona mill, natural fermentation, and distillation using copper pot stills over low heat. Then, this expression spends 5 years maturing in French white oak casks that used to hold red wine. Bottled at 76 proof, the subtly sweet sipper is fruity and oaky with an extra-long finish.
